Secrets to the Perfect Holiday Cocktail

The holiday season calls for fun and festive sparkling drinks, like mimosas and cranberry spritzers. Whether you love wine, vodka, rum, tequila or spirit-free drinks, we’ve got a few secrets to the perfect holiday cocktail!

Keep It Simple

Don’t get us wrong, we LOVE a fancy cocktail, but timeless and simple ingredients make the best drinks! Start with fresh and flavourful base ingredients like fruit and herbs, then layer in additional ingredients like fresh juices, a delicious tea or your favourite wine. When you sparkle everything together, the pressure squeezes the ingredients’ flavours into the drink, resulting in a more amplified flavour profile. Skipping alcohol altogether? You can still celebrate with delicious drinks and endless bubbly recipes!

Balance Is Everything

The most important rule of mixology, the rule that overrides everything else, is that balance is everything. Whether you’re making a cocktail with 3 ingredients or 20, if the elements aren’t balanced, it’s not going to taste good. The magic formula for achieving this balance is 2:1:1. That’s 2 parts alcohol, which forms the base of your drink; 1 part sour, such as lemon or lime; and 1 part sweet, such as simple syrup, triple sec, or fresh pineapple. From there, you can add your liquids of choice!

Make It Sparkle

Sparkling drinks are the ultimate start to a fun, festive holiday. Whether you’re serving cocktails for the adults or sparkling infusions for the kids, bubbles make beverages more fun! You can get creative and make custom concoctions with everyone’s favourite ingredients in mind. The carbonation process isn’t just fun to watch, it also enhances all of the festive flavours. Add a little extra sparkle with festive garnishes like rosemary, pomegranate arils, cinnamon sticks or candy canes!
